Harvest Festival 2022

The Harvest Festival is the one times of the year when the streets of downtown Fredericton are extremely crowded. There are people who are coming out to listen to their favorite music artists and bands, and others are coming out for the wide variety of foods sold out of food trucks.

This is the 31st year of Harvest and this year is the first one since the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. The pandemic prevented many artists from travelling to Fredericton.

According to a CBC report in 2021, Brent Staebe

“We know that at some point along the way, I might be coming back to you and saying, ‘There’s just too many things to overcome here. We can’t do it in the way we want to do it,'” said Staeben before Harvest Festival 2021.

This year there were many first-time performers like singer, Mike Biggar. Mike is a Soul and Blues singer and he explained how happy he was to be out performing for crowds again.

“Especially after the last couple of years with lockdown, things get scratched, festivals and stuff, touring. So, normally I’m out on the road but it’s great to be performing for people again.”

Mike and his partner put on a show for the fans and passers-by in the streets with some of his own songs and covers of other songs. He was pleasantly surprised at how many people stopped to listen to him and his partner perform.

“You saw; I can’t believe how many people came by. I thought they’d be down by the great, big tents but were here at the CBC acoustics stage on the street people just stop by as they’re wandering through but man oh man so many people.”

The Festival ran from Tuesday to Sunday and saw hundreds of people flooding the streets of downtown Fredericton.
