“And We’re Live!” – Harvest 2022

The Maritime’s famous Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival has been held virtually for the past two years due to COVID-19. This weekend, the festival is back in person and the city of Fredericton is ready to party.

Downtown streets are flooded with life this weekend for the first time since the pandemic began. Buskers, dancers, food trucks and more spread excitement and smiles among the crowds. Festival go-ers of all ages enjoy the warm and entertaining atmosphere. Children run, dance, play and even get tattoos, (temporary, of course). Adults meet up and share a drink with friends they haven’t seen in a while.

Dedicated Harvest fans like Jim Bishop are over the moon to be grooving in person again:

“I’ve been coming to this for years and years, I really missed it through the pandemic when it was just virtual, but it’s back live now, baby!” Bishop shouts.

The energy holds its own from afternoon into late evening, never dying down. If anything, the environment comes even more alive after dark. The streets light up, there’s designs projected up on the sides of buildings, and colour everywhere you look. Even if you aren’t a pass holder, the neon lights and loud music from the VIP tents seeps out into the streets with the rest of the amazing entertainment.

Friends, family and community gather to share the warm moments missed over the past couple years.

With Frederictionians now all stocked up on live music, fun with friends and good eats, they’re sure to be ready for the cool season ahead.
