Katherine del Salto

Hello!

My name is Katherine del Salto, and I’m an international student from Guayaquil, Ecuador, currently taking my second year at St. Thomas University, and majoring in journalism and sociology.

My biggest passion is journalism. I’ve been dabbling in the field since I was in 9th grade, initially through my school’s journalism club and now writing for the Aquinian from time to time. Since I joined the club, I knew that a career in journalism is what I wanted to pursue. I love the process of researching and finding meaningful stories that will inform and enrich people’s lives. I decided to study sociology as well because I’m interested in understanding how people and societies work and coexist. Furthermore, I’m also really passionate about social justice topics, and that’s what I aim to focus on in my journalism career. Overall I believed that journalism and sociology would mesh perfectly taking into account what are my main interests.

My other interests consist of reading and working out. I mainly read comics and manga, and recently I’ve had a small obsession with webtoons. For working out, I enjoy a mixture of yoga, Pilates, and weight lifting.

I’m a big homebody, so you’ll probably find me either at my house reading or at the gym working out.
