Evermoore Brewery Thrives Despite COVID-19 Pandemic

The Evermoore Brewery has recently become a staple to the city of SummersidePEI. The microbrewery has only been running for a couple of years now but has made an immediate impact in the culture of Summerside by using what once was the historic site of the CN Rail Station and the Rotary Library, transforming it into the talk of the town.

Through the COVID-19 pandemic the microbrewery has thrived with the help of so many supportive locals. “Everyone has really rallied around us and most nights we have had a full dining room,” owner Alex Clark said.

Even during the tough times of red phase where all dining rooms were shut down and people were to be with no more than who lived in their house, Evermoore did online deliveries and take-out that required no contact in order to keep the locals well looked after during the pandemic. The options of take-out and delivery will continue to be available to fulfill the needs of those locals who would still rather stay inside.

“We are invested in the community and these people are our neighbours so, we don’t run this as a business, we run it as just another part of town,” Clark said.

So far it seems to be the recipe for success as PEI continues to jump through the phases of the COVID-19 pandemic and Evermoore continues to provide a large portion of dining and take out for the locals of Summerside.

Before the recent circuit breaker on PEI, the brewery had finally got back into the swing of things entertaining its guests with live

music, trivia nights, and much more. Summerside has lacked entertainment outside of the summer season for quite some time, but with brewery restoring life to such an important heritage property on PEI, their guests have found a new home for their nights out.

“When I originally closed my last restaurant and opened this one it was really because this was our chance to own a little piece of history,” says Clark.

The owner and employees have taken pride in their work, with few places for good food and beer in Summerside, the locals have showed their appreciation by filling the dining room more nights than not while Evermoore continues to bring life back to the city. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t detoured much of their business, if anything it possibly grew their company by gaining the confidence and trust of the locals.  In return Evermoore has added online delivery services to ensure everyone stays looked after.

It’s times like this where the small area’s benefit compared to the larger provinces. Between a good reputation and being able to continue  running businessesmeanwhile closing the bridge to travellers creating a Prince Edward Island bubble has benefited small businesses Like Evermoore. “Living on an island that’s been isolated with a small rural population has definitely helped us during the pandemic,” Clark said.

For now, business will continue to run as usual, and locals can enjoy the taste of what has been the new normal for their nights out since the pandemic began.
