Fredericton’s UNB upcoming band “Reset”

Every semester, the Renaissance College Society at the University of New Brunswick hosts a Coffee House. It’s open to anyone in the UNB community and offers the opportunity to take a break from studying to showcase the students’ skills and talents.

The Coffee House also gives the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a hot drink and snacks. It debuted Fredericton’s upcoming band Reset, showcasing their first song “Figuring it out”.

Reset is formed by David Williams, Gabriel Ibarra and Emmanuel. “So, the idea of us becoming a band started in late June when we started writing ‘Figuring it out’,” said Gabriel Ibarra, Reset’s guitar player. “The month after that we actually started recording the song and that’s when we became a thing.”

Currently, Reset has two new songs but only ‘Figuring it out’ is available on Spotify. They are now working a new song, which will come out late March. According to the band, their vision is to create an EP with their first three songs, all relating to one another. The common theme; love.

After their debut at the Renaissance College, Reset performed at the UNB’s “World of Talent” brought by UNB International Student Advisor’s Office (ISAO). In their performance they featured Valeria Torres, a St. Thomas University freshman.

“Since this summer, I was thinking we can go to Renaissance College and play as a band,” said David Williams, Reset’s lead singer. “And since we had our debut live performance at the Renaissance College we got to perform live some more and the talent show was a bigger crowd, so it only made sense to do the talent show.”

Unfortunately, Reset lost the competition, but they were grateful for the judge’s advice. According to the judges, Reset needed to improve their interaction with the crowd. “I think there could be a lot more done in the performance, like action wise,” said Emmanuel, UNB student and rapper of Reset. “We could’ve been a lot more entertaining. I think it’s something we’re going to learn, as we keep on doing performances.”

Since then, Reset promises to do more live performances and says it is committed to improve every day in order to reach their dreams.
