‘Heads on the Game’- Varsity Reds’ sweeping victory

FREDERICTON – Family and friends came to watch the UNB Varsity Reds’ victory against the Dalhousie Tigers on Nov 1st at the Richard J. Currie Center.

The enthusiastic crowd cheered each Reds’ score.

“We are here to support our friends, so far it’s been a good battle, they are hitting hard. It should be a good match,” said Paige Lehto, a UNB volleyball player who showed up after finishing her team’s own game.

Even though the second set was tied against the Dalhousie Tigers, 25-21 they still managed to win the match by sweeping each set.

In the third set the Reds started off hard although Dalhousie kept up with the game.

Connor McConnell was selected as UNB’s best player. “I think we competed really well, still a couple of things to work on make sure we have our heads on the game, overall I think we had a pretty consistent game,” he said.

Consistency, discipline and team work were the three keys that lead Varsity Reds to victory.

“Today’s win felt great,” said Reds´ outside hitter Thomas Vickers. “We played much better as a team, and were synced together and able to focus.”
