One Last Game

It was an emotional night for the veteran Tommies basketball player. In her fourth season and just months away from graduating, Lainy Dow played her final home game for the St. Thomas University women’s basketball team.

The Tommies were just behind first place in the ACAA standings and with just two games remaining in the regular season, it was time to prepare for playoffs.

Though the night would be heavy with emotions, the Tommies were still able to get the job done and taking down the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves, in a 64-53 win.

Dow made sure to make her final home game count. She showed her leadership by scoring a game high 14 points while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists. Eight of her points came in the second quarter.

After the Tommies certified their win, head coach Fred Connors spoke highly of his only senior player on his squad.

“She has such great character,” Connors said afterwards. “…she led us. Which is what she does. I’m really proud of her.”
