STU Sustainability, Beeswax Edition

A student prepares their reusable beeswax wrap at the STU Sustainability Holiday Workshop by cutting their cloth to an appropriate size.
Beeswax, from a local producer, was then melted in a pan.
The previously cut cloth was then dipped in the beeswax; creating a water proof layer.
The beeswax covered cloth was then dipped in cold water and left out to dry to create a tough, reusable fabric.
The STU Sustainability Club put on the event. They are a student run club who aim to protect the environment by supporting sustainable alternatives to non-sustainable methods.

Born in Frederick, Maryland, raised for a short while in Charleston, West Virginia, and lived the remainder of my young life in Barre, Vermont, I now attend Saint Thomas University. My passion for writing and storytelling led me to journalism. My experience in journalism is the Times Argus newspaper based out of Barre, Vermont as a human interest reporter.
