Buying a craft as a Christmas gift
If you are still thinking about what to buy as a Christmas gift, a craft is an excellent choice.
The New Brunswick College of Craft and Design craft sale took place in Fredericton last week. The craft sale was a local favorite for holiday gift shopping. Second-year fine craft students offered their handmade creations. They were rolling out their crafted products, in pottery, textile, jewelry, photography and more at the fair. This is a benefit to both students and buyers. Buyers could get unique crafts as gifts to family and friends and College of Craft and Design students could get real sales experience. They explained where the inspiration came from for each craft, and this is the best way to show the crafts to visitors.
Some crafts took hours to make and some took weeks, and the fair is the final step in the process for students.
Danika Vautour, who is in her final year at The New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, said that she will start opening up her own studio so she wanted to learn to communicate with customers, and the fair was really helpful.
The visitors not only visit and buy crafts they also make textile and jewelry at the fair.
Those who come to the fair every year, make connections and see and buy students’ work and buy something from the fair. The event helped students to learn and quickly to find a job in the future.
Xueer Wang is one of the customers.
“I really enjoy this event, I bought one scarf, and some beautiful jewelry. I’m planning to send to my family and three friends. I mean they are really meaningful and unique. I made a small pottery, it was interesting,” she said.
Students hope the people can choose the crafts as gifts to their family and friends.
