Fredericton, NB – The winter semester was coming to a close so they Harrington Hall Committee decided to have a day of fun and relaxation for all its residents. The Harrington Hall games officially commenced on the 6th of April with everyone who lives there being encouraged to participate in the festivities. The students were still asked to keep their masks on during the games, in keeping with STU’s health and safety protocols.

The Harrington Hall banner was made by the committee and they decided to fly the flag high until the day was over. the first item that was on the agenda was taking photos to remember both the day of the games and also the good times that the residents had. This was a very slow start to the day but it gradually picked up.

Tristan Eisnor, a Resident Assistant of Harrington Hall, said, “We just wanted to do something nice for the residents before they start their exams.” When asked about how long it took to plan the day’s events he said, “It took a lot of time and planning but it was all worth it in the end.”

The basketball court was the first item on the agenda. Here, there would be mini-games that everyone could participate in. This was just a taste of the greater excitement that was yet to come, the water-balloon toss. The water-balloons were supposed to only hit the ground but it was made all the more fun as some players inevitably got splashed with some water.

On the grass between the basketball court and Harrington, the students were allowed to express their artistic side in the form of tie-dye. The items that were being tie-dyed were t-shirts, socks, handkerchiefs and bandanas. The tie-dye colors of choice were red, blue, and of course, yellow and green in honor of STU. The items were then tied with twine in order to create the patterns as the dye was poured onto each individual item.

After the tie-dye items had finished drying and the games were completed everyone was naturally hungry. There is nothing that says rest and relaxation like pizza. The committee organized many boxes of pizza ranging from pepperoni, to cheese, and vegetarian pizzas. This was the perfect way to end the day. Who would say no to pizza after a day of fun activities?
