Covid-19 Doesn’t Stop Trivia lovers

FREDERICTON– Interested in testing your knowledge while enjoying a craft beer? Well, look no further–Grimross can help. Every other Thursday, ten teams of Fredericton locals attend this brewery for a trivia night. The rounds begin, and phones get put away.

With each question asked, teams quietly discuss before the time is up. Once the round is over, a team member takes a picture with their phone and sends it to the brewery’s Facebook. In between rounds, there is time to take a washroom break, to check their phone, and to get a snack or beer.

Masks are mandatory when leaving their table or waiting in line, and social- distancing is necessary as well.

Employee, Rhys Dixon, is pleased with the ongoing support.

“We definitely have some good, loyal customers that have always come in and always supported us. Even though we did have to close our taproom for a bit, and have limited seating, we have still stayed busy and we’re just very grateful,” said Dixon.

In 2012, Dixon’s father began selling craft beer out of the basement of their house. She worked for them there until it began selling out of the Picaroon’s Brewtique. However, Dixon has been employed at their current location since 2014.

Covid may have caused a halt for trivia nights, but not for long.

“Ater a little bit we started up again, and it’s been great– we have sold out a few shows and it’s been awesome. ”

The questions continue, except this time, a visual and audio round. It was time to guess which celebrity smile was on the screen, and then guess what local artist was performing with the song clips they played.

For the final round, one member from each team had to stand up and raise their hand to answer the question. It was competitive but full of laughter and smiles.

Player, Liam Breckenridge, attends each trivia night to play with his family.

“I love trivia; I’ve always enjoyed playing. I was on my high school team, and whenever I would go on a cruise or something, I would always play trivia with all of the old people,” said Breckenridge.

The top prize was 40 dollars towards the brewery, and each team member won their choice of glassware.

To reserve a table for your team, you can contact them via their Facebook or Instagram, or by emailing or calling the brewery. They aim to choose a theme for each trivia night to keep them exciting and fun.
