Fredericton’s New Food Truck: Dee’s Quiet Cafe
With the recent rise of breweries in Fredericton, the demand for food trucks is growing. While most food trucks offer foods like burgers, fries, hot dogs, and poutine, vegetarian options are often limited.
Last weekend, Dee’s Quiet Café had its soft launch at Graystone Brewery. The food truck offers a vegetarian only menu that carries locally sourced organic food.
The menu includes items such as homemade muffins, coffee, apple cider in the mornings. And for lunch and supper, potato latkas with a side of maple baked beans and apple sauce and two kinds of soup right now: sweet potato, squash. The menu also carries a lemon carrot rice, served with homemade bread and a garden earth burger.
For Chef and Owner Drew Budovitch, food plays a big role in his day. The choice to have organic vegetarian food that’s locally sourced is something that is important when it comes to thinking about food consumption.
Many costumers like Rian Smith agree. “I find in the city there’s kind of a lack of vegan and vegetarian options and I find that as time goes on people are becoming more aware of what they eat. And kind of more conscious about eating sustainably”
Despite the cold working conditions, Dee’s Quiet Café will be running all year around. For Budovitch, this kind of business is important to the city saying “people want good, healthy, warm, quick on the go food and that’s where come in”
So next time you’re out enjoying a beer, look for Dee’s Quiet Café for a warm and nutritious meal.
