Black Friday

Balck Friday is the reason every mall is jammed packed with shoppers trying to get the best deals for their Christmas shopping. Regent mall in Fredericton was no exception.

With the stores on Regent mall offering deals such as the popular store Bath & Body Works offering the sale buy three items and get three more free, the store was overflowing with people trying to find a great gift for a great price.

Bath & Bodyworks has a Black Friday that brings lots of shoppers.

The malls become a bit hectic with stores seeing a massive influx in costumers. Even fast-food restaurants feel the pressure of Black Friday.

“I work at McDonald’s as well and it gets just as crazy. You have people taking out their stress on you from holiday shopping,” said Mackenize Webb. She is a retail worker at Envy but also works at McDonald’s.

Although it was Black Friday, the mall appeared as if it was experiencing an extra busy day. The only store with a long line was Old Navy. The line for the checkout wrapped around the store.

Old Navy was filled with shoppers.

“This is my first Black Friday and it’s not as crazy as I thought it would be,” said Sarah Throne who was shopping for her family.

Canada also doesn’t have the same deals that are offered in the United States. Fights can break out between the stress caused by holiday shopping between shoppers.

However, Cyber Monday is making it easier to shop for Christmas. The Monday that follows Black Friday has online stores offering deals on their merchandise. Sites such as Amazon that are online department stores, can bring down their prices to up to 50 per cent off.

Since Cyber Monday has gained more popularity, malls are starting to become less busy on Black Friday. Cyber Monday makes it easier for people to shop from their homes online.

It’s also convenient for those who want to buy from stores that aren’t located in their area.

However, Cyber Monday can’t take away the tradition of waking up early and heading to the mall with your shopping list.
