A spooky Halloween at the Capital Complex

The Capital Complex is one of Fredericton’s music venues that hosts a variety of events per year. To celebrate Halloween this year, the venue is hosted eight bands.

For the price of 10$, the night included an eclectic line-up of bands like Bbqt (Montreal), Guiding Light (New York), Botfly (Halifax), Construction Deconstruction (Sackville), Motherhood, Young Satan in Love and Snorkelers (Fredericton). The bands played in Wilser’s Room and The Capital Bar.

Local musician Josh Bravener had been looking forward to seeing some of his favorite bands play. For Bravener, having all these play the same venue was a pretty special occasion.

“for like a low price, you get to see all these amazing bands like Bbqts, Motherhood, Young Satan in love, Construction Deconstruction, all in 1 place just going up 1 flight of stairs why would you wanna be anywhere else?”

Since the Capital Complex is one of the only venues to host live music in the city, many music fans support the venue to help maintain shows going. For music fans like Morgan Richardson, attending shows at the Capital supports the local music scene, which is important since many of her friends are local musicians.

“there’s something special about it, I don’t know I heard that there’s something in the water in Fredericton… I know that it makes all the artists (well-rounded is not the right word) Experimental.”

Motherhood’s merchandise include vinyls, cassettes, and t-shirts.

Other ways music goers support the music scene is by purchasing Vinyls, Cd’s, Cassettes, T-shirts, and other forms of merchandise.

For the local music scene, celebrating occasions like Halloween at the Capital is well worth it. This year, despite the rainy weather, people dressed up and enjoyed a night full of music, drinks, costumes and friends.
