The Drome Shows its New Features in Grand-Opening

The old rusty Bowl-a-Drome showed its new and improved self this past weekend as the Drome.

Fredericton’s north side was lit with activities at the Dromes grand-opening. This event took up a full day but was never shown a dull moment.

Up 93.1 came at noon to broadcast the event. Deals were up in its honour, these deals consisted of $12 per hour bowling and happy hour pricing on alcoholic beverages. A live painting was done in the evening by artist, Lindsay MacKay, who painted a portrait of the bowling alley. Along with discounted drinks came discounted meals to showcase their delicious juicy burgers.

“We’re just having some drinks and bowling, the food smells great and there’s a good turn out here,” said local North side resident, Jessica Johnson. Johnson is ecstatic to have a bowling alley so close to home that offers more than just bowling. She feels that she will be there a lot this winter, “it’s one of our favorite activities to do in the winter.”

Although the Drome has been open sense Labour Day weekend, the grand-opening was held to show people its new features. These features include 12 lanes, a lounging area, full kitchen and bar and even a patio space for the warmer weather.

This colorful and unique bowling is open for all ages to enjoy. It is meant to share laughs and great memories.

Locals would know this building as the once loved Bowl-a-Drome. The owners of Trailway Brewery bought the building in 2018 and shortly after, they had it shut down to make time for its total makeover. The owner’s goal was to modernize this fun activity for all.

“What we’re just trying to do here is bring bowling back,” said Peter Allen, the shift manager on the night of the opening.

“It’s just good wholesome fun.”
