Crystal clear healing

The Revitalized Health and Wellness exhibition at St.Thomas University’s Forest Hill Conference Centre featured healing activities including yoga, meditation, angel card readings, reiki teachings and many other relaxing activities.

Booths were abundant with information, from Equine Therapy, raw cleanse eating and non-toxic products, to crystal energies, smudging, and reflexology. Healers explained the process of smudging as purifying and releasing stress while removing negative energy and boosting energy levels.

Some vendors do not believe in the healing properties themselves, but enjoy selling and helping others as they see the benefit many people gain from the products. One vendor compared the energy and experience of crystals to friendships.

“I like to compare it to having a mutual friend. We may both see and experience friendship with that person in a different way even though it’s the same person. My experience with crystals could be totally different from your experience with crystals,” said a representative from Heartfully Yours.

The event was hosted by Christine Cliff, a Naturopath who wanted Fredericton to know a little more about the various health remedies available.

“I wanted to do an event that actually incorporated what people took as being regular healthcare, going to the chiropractor, going to acupuncture, doing fitness and the things that can be thought of as unscientific. So to either give them a chance to try it for themselves or to show them that they all have their own validity in helping people with their health,” said Cliff.

More than simply offering their services, companies and healers were selling their products as well. Many companies sold crystals, jewellery, lamps and decorative pieces, while other sold skincare and haircare products.
