STU clubs bringing students together

When the fall rolls around it’s time for students to head back to school.

School can be stressful. Especially university. There are plenty of ways on the St. Thomas University campus for students to focus on something else besides school for a change.

STU offers plenty of ways for students to get involved on campus.

STU hosts a clubs and societies fair during the first few weeks of school. This way students can meet other students face to face and learn about clubs on campus.

Hannah Elizabeth Johnson is a STU student who is on the Debate Society, “We’re a great place if you want to learn public speaking and start your career in debate and model UNs and all those public speaking opportunities, and you can find us at the clubs and societies fair.”

STU has over 20 clubs on campus.  So there is a little something that appeals to everyone. These clubs are predominantly run by other students.

The clubs that are offered at STU aren’t just reserved for STU. The majority of the clubs and  societies are open to University of New Brunswick students and New Brunswick Community College students, as well as the public.

Nikita Spencer is the founder of the Sustainability club at St. Thomas University (Hillary Latham).

Nikita Spencer is another STU student who is involved in a club on campus. “Clubs and societies fair is a wonderful way to promote your club such as STU Sustainability. Today we had lots of people sign up,” Spencer said.

The clubs on campus give members the opportunity to get involved and take a break from their studies.  The fair is also a great way to meet others face to face who have similar interests and passions.

Students are given the chance to sign up for clubs at the fair that suit their interests, (Hillary Latham).
