‘Extra! Extra!’ – St. Thomas University’s Set to Perform Disney’s Newsies
Sweet sounds of harmony and laughter echos in the preforming arts room at St Thomas University, while the class gears up for their production of Disneys Newsies.
The shows follows a young fictional “newsie” from New York City, Jack Kelly. The story is based loosely on historical events of unionization in the United States and portrays the injustices workers faced that time.
Since the start of the school year, students in the musical theatre class have been rehearsing and mastering their character. The class has around 30 students, from all musical theatre backgrounds and experiences.
The class has rehearsal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30am until 12:30pm. Some extra time can be required from these students on weekends as well.
The class is available for any students who attend St. Thomas University. Also for any advance placements students who are in high school. Many student performers are excited for opening night and cannot wait to show what their hard work and creativity has transformed into.
The show runs from February 20th until the 23rd. Tickets are selling quick! The price for students are $15 and $20 for general. They are available by contacting musicaltickets@stu.ca.
