Little Ray’s: Educational animal exhibit comes to Fredericton

FREDERICTON

On Jan. 27, Fredericton’s Capital Exhibition Centre was filled with laughter and curiosity as people of all ages came to meet local and exotic animals of all shapes and sizes. Little Ray’s Nature Centre hosted the event. They are an Ottawa-based refuge for abandoned and confiscated animals.

Barry The Sloth was the fan favourite of the event (Samuel Blackmore/STU)

“We brought my nephew out, just to get him out of the house to learn about some animals,” said Leah Levesque, one attendee.

Presentations throughout the day explained where the animals come from, what they eat and other facts. Although it was wholesome family fun, Little Ray’s goal is much bigger than only laughter and smiles.

“What we’re doing is manly just teaching little kids about the animals that you wouldn’t normally see,” said Sarah Cusack, an employee, “to bring awareness, conservation and of course break stereotypes,”
