Local Business: Naturally Fit
Fredericton’s first-ever 24 hour gym opened its doors 20 years ago, in 1999. Naturally Fit, located on the capital city’s north side, has over 150 members. Fitness enthusiasts ranging from students to military veterans, are flocking to Naturally Fit because of the gym’s welcoming atmosphere.
“I went to the gym on campus for the four years of my degree… I tried the gym [Naturally Fit] and the atmosphere was a lot better,” said Lexi D’Abbraccio, a student at St. Thomas University.
D’Abbraccio also says that members of the gym come from all levels of fitness experience. There is always someone to reach out to for professional advice if you need it.
In addition to the welcoming atmosphere at Naturally Fit, the gym offers an attached Supplement Store. Prices are advertised as the lowest in the city, and a portion of the proceeds from sold products are donated to a Transition House in Honduras.
The money sent to Honduras provides food, water, and other necessities to children.
“It’s a really unique thing that our supplement store does compared to other places in Fredericton… it’s really important to us that we give back to developing countries,” said Aiyla Poitress, gym employee.
If you are looking for a diverse and fun work-out environment, look no further than Naturally Fit. The facility aims to encourage members of the public to chase their fitness goals, while giving back to those less fortunate.
Naturally Fit offers no-contract memberships for full access to their 24-hour gym, which includes a cardio loft, women’s workout room, a weights section, and a multi-purpose backroom. After 20 years, the fitness centre continues to have gym-goers flocking.
Looking forward, Naturally Fit hopes to build an expansion in 2020, to offer more accessible services to individuals with both physical and psychological disabilities. Big things are on the horizon for this small local-business.
