Kings County: Young Musicians Unite
The city of Fredericton has a new band in town. They are new to the music game, but they are 
about to make some noise. They call themselves, “Kings County”.
The four university bandmates have known each other for years. Doug Brenton, Colton Scott, Cameron Patterson and Rob MacPhee, all met through various music associations, and each of them have a passion for music. They practice about 2-3 times per week; creating their own music and covering some of their favourite songs.
Cameron Patterson creates the particular sound of the band by being the lead singer and bass player. He is new to the music game, but is breaking barriers for new musicans. Douglas Brenton plays the guitar with fellow band mate, Colton Scott and they both can shred the guitar for days. The last member to make a ruckus is Rob McPhee as the lead drummer. Rob MacPhee had a moment of clarity while watching watching School of Rock at a young age and decided drumming was his passion.
During my interview with MacPhee he explains,
“So I guess my inspiration to start playing the drums, when School of Rock had just come out. Me and my brother were watching it and he decided he was going to play the guitar, like Jack Black and I couldn’t play the same instrument as him, so I looked to the back and saw the drum kit and that’s what I went with.”
As the boys move forward with creating music and developing a sense of rock style and sound, I asked the bandmate Colton Scott if they are planning on making an album in the future.
“I defiantly see us producing an album. I mean that kind of everyone’s, every bands dream, is to kind of get their music out there and like make it big. I mean, I’d be happy with just a couple hundred downloads of a short EP and that would put me over the moon.”
Kings County is currently working on a few original rock songs. In the meantime, they’ll practice with covers of their favourite rock bands, like Arctic Monkeys, Kaleo and many more.
The next few months for Kings County look into creating more, original content. They will be working towards producing their first original song within the next year. Check out Kings_County on instagram for weekly updates on the bandmates, their music and upcoming performances.
