Cat Cafe: a cafe for cats and… hoomans
The Purrfect Cup opened on the northside of Fredericton recently and already has attracted a lot of people. The coffee shop works like any other – you get your food and drink, and enjoy it with some company. However, the shop has a special area full of cats that can be adopted.
Korey Jennis is the person responsible for the idea of the cat café. The main idea Korey had for the cat café is much more than just enjoying some warm drinks. It’s also about raising awareness for pet adoption. His goal is for people to see the animals in a more natural environment.
“I came up with the idea from an article I read of a cat café that opened in Calgary and I thought that was a pretty good idea. And I started doing a little bit of research and, a year and a half later, here I am. The main goal is to run a nice café that people could come an enjoy, but also to have the cat room which serves two purposes – one for people to relax and also to help the SPCA adopt cats.”
Apart from the choices in the menu, another characteristic of The Purrfect Cup is that it’s a family friendly place, where you can take children to enjoy some hot chocolate and of course, cats.
The Purrfect Cup works from 8 till 9, Monday to Friday and 10 till 6 on Sundays.
