The Final Is Set for Folly Fest Battle of the Bands
In a growing festival circuit in New Brunswick, FeelsGood Follyfest has become one of the most cultally significant. Their tenth edition includes will see acts such as The Gabriel Palatchi Trio, G-Nome Project, My Son The Hurricane, Old Man Luedecke and Plants and Animals entertain the events unique crowd from June 22nd-24th in Gagetown, NB.
“Its like a party but its also like going to visit your grandparents, its familiar and theres all kinds of things you know you’re going to love,” said fesitval representative Stephen Lewis.
Their following, dubbed the “FollyFam”, has grown to the point that the festival can extend their reach past their annual event.
They host an annual Christmas party for everyone involved and host five battle-of-the-bands events in lieu of the festival.
“We have had some really good bands that have played here that have played at Folly whether thay have won or not, ” said festival organizer Mike Humble.
The fourth round of this years competition wrapped up this past week. Halifax group Matt Steele and the Corvette Sunset took the last spot of the final over fellow acts Juniper Magpie, Graeme MacKay and Short for Arthur. The final round takes place next week, the other finalists include Monteith, Delirious Monks and Shrimp Ring.
Regardless of who takes the top spot, this initiative has become more about recruiting than the competition. It is more than likely that a handful of runners up will be selected to round out the rest of this years line-up.
The Final of the Battle-of-the-Bands takes place on April 4th.
