How did ‘The Basement Files’ come into being? It all began a long time ago in a ‘not so faraway place’! St. Thomas University began a partnership with CBC in 2002/3 and STU Journalism started using space in the lower level of the CBC Broadcast Centre in Fredericton. In the fall of 2007, The Basement Tapes began as an “In-house” TV show produced by the 3rd Year TV class. By the fall of 2008 WordPress had landed and we started : stubasementtapes.wordpress.com

Other sites followed in 2009 (stutv.ca and nbbeacon.ca now both defunct) and in 2010/11 the show went HD and tapeless…thus changing to ‘The Basement Files’. Both stufiles.wordpress.com and stunewmedia2.wordpress.com came into being in January 2016 with the closing of nbbeacon.ca
Stufiles.ca is the new site for both the Toolbox & Thru the Lens classes.
